Red Elm heartwood is light to medium reddish brown. Paler sapwood is usually well defined. Red elm can be a challenge to work because of interlocked grain, especially on quartersawn surfaces. Planing can cause tear-out and/or fuzzy surfaces. It glues, stains, and finishes well. Common uses include boxes, baskets, furniture, hockey sticks, veneer, wood pulp, and paper making. These blanks are green/undried and are fully sealed with wax. 6" x 4" Round Bowl Turning Blank.
